Distinguished presenters this year included Alice Rivlin, PhD, Senior Fellow at The Brookings Institution and a member of DCPCA’s Board of Directors, and Dr. Marilyn Hughes Gaston, former director of the Bureau of Primary Health Care in the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration. Continuing a tradition, DCPCA CEO Sharon Baskerville recognized exceptional members of the community for their efforts on behalf of the residents of the District of Columbia. As Advisory Neighborhood Commissioners (7D07), Willie and Alisa Woods received the Distinguished Community Advocate Award for their leadership in support of the new Parkside community health center. Dr. Mark Fracasso received the Distinguished Caregiver Award for his service as chief medical officer at Mary’s Center. The Champion of Change Award went this year to Kelly Sweeney McShane, executive director of Community of Hope, for her efforts to improve the lives of DC residents. McShane is also a DCPCA Board member.

A near capacity crowd of more than 300 guests enjoyed a full day of educational and informational break-out sessions and expert speakers. Our annual event attracts high level speakers who are experts in health reform, quality improvement, heath information technology, and other key issues that affect health care delivery and transformation.
This event symbolizes our long-term commitment to realizing an integrated health care system with guaranteed access to primary care and health equity in health outcomes for everyone in our city. This year, we continued to showcase our groundbreaking work in health care quality, health information technology, capital development, and workforce initiatives.
