Training Overview: Please join the DCPCA and the DC Coalition Against Domestic Violence for a workshop on intimate partner violence (IPV) in the LGBTQI communities! Facilitators will provide information on the dynamics of IPV, with a specific focus on IPV in the LGBTQI community. We will discuss best practices for engaging with LGBTQI individuals experiencing IPV, including screening for IPV in the medical setting. Resources for survivors of IPV in DC will be shared. This training is designed for medical professionals and health center staff.

 

Learning Objectives

  • Participants will be able to define domestic violence and intimate partner violence (IPV)
  • Participants will be able to identify red flags/warning signs of IPV
  • Participants will learn best practices for screening for IPV in all patients, with a specific focus on screening patients who identify as LGBTQI
  • Participants will understand the barriers/challenges and resources/services available to LGBTQI survivors of IPV

  • Clinical Staff which include MDs, RNs, and NPs
  • Front Line Staff
  • Behavioral Health Staff
