Since this is the final edition of DCPCA’s newsletter for 2006, and as I serve as the Board chair of this amazing organization, I feel a little pressure right now to say something memorable. Typically, the challenge of speaking on behalf of the agency is left to its executive director, Sharon Baskerville. And rightfully so, since she has been DCPCA’s fearless leader and tireless advocate for DC’s uninsured and medically underserved almost since the organization was first incorporated in 1996.

Participation for All in the District’s Prosperity

Improving workforce services for low-income residents of the District is an urgent need. Employment is still the primary path out of poverty, off public assistance, and to employer-sponsored health care. The missing link in the District’s efforts to alleviate poverty is an effective workforce program.
